Dirtiest Places in Your Home and How to Clean Them

killing germs

Are germs dangerous or not? Well for the most part we see all manner of pretty startling facts about the little blighters. Your keyboard is worse than a toilet bowl; your bathroom is actually cleaner than your desk and so forth. Most of the bacteria we encounter are on all manner of surfaces, facilitating the need for doing proper cleaning often enough to avoid them. Here are three of the main germ hot spots you need to be aware of when you are working on house cleaning:

cleaning door handles

• Your Door Handles

Claims are that door handles have the least amount of bacteria on surfaces such as handles on public restrooms and such. The truth is most people tend to wash their hands obsessively out there, but you would still do well to focus on bathroom cleaning more than any other home cleaning chore. These are still locations that require a lot of hard work to keep clean, so you will need to put in the effort. Bacteria love to thrive in hot and humid environments, making the bathroom one of the locations where you will see the most of them. There are some door handles that need more cleaning than others, such as your front door or locations where you have a lot of traffic going on through said doorways. Make them clean again by doing regular home cleaning.

office cleaners

• Dirtied Office Objects

The average desktops have about 400 times more bacteria than your average toilet bowl, specifically because most people rarely bother cleaning their desks. That results in some pretty amazing colonies of bacteria, most of which are usually harmless, but there are some cases where things get worse. Phones, keyboards, mice and so forth often become a hotbed for bacteria during flu season, as you often end up touching other objects, speaking to people, making handshakes and overall spreading the “joy” of bacteria. Cleaning them with an antiseptic will help keep things more manageable, but in the end it will make things more tolerable. Office cleaning should be a weekly happening that becomes a habit, so don’t avoid it if you want to keep the bacteria away. Make sure you wash your hands often and apply disinfectant to your equipment whenever you can, using antibacterial soaps and alcohol-based hand sanitizers. You should also avoid touching your face during your office cleaning efforts.

floor cleaning

• Dirty floors

You may have heard the claims that you can get athlete’s foot and even plantar warts from walking barefoot on gym floors. Well unfortunately both of those are true. Both of these are caused by a virus that ends up producing flat or grey-brown bumps on the soles of feet, resulting in itching and flaking between toes, on the soles of the feet and so forth. This happens mostly because the conditions are good for these fungi and viruses to thrive. You should avoid going barefoot in public places, clean your flip-flops often with disinfectant and so forth. Doing it will help you avoid the worst of the issue without going too far, so make that happen.

At the end of the day cleaning your surfaces often enough will give you a better chance to enjoy your day. There is no sense in worrying about dirt and grime and bacteria when you can take steps to avoid them.
