Things You May Have Forgotten to Spring Clean
With the coming of spring, the time of spring cleaning is upon us and it is time to roll up the sleeves and endeavour in a thorough adventure about the house, replacing dust and dirt with shine and fluff to welcome the new seasonal year. People all around the world know and do this, but not everybody is as thorough as they could be. And sometimes it’s not because people are lazy. It’s because every home has a few places that we completely neglect because we completely forget about them. They are the places we never think about and don’t bother checking out during any job. But in order for your spring cleaning to be successful, you will have to think about them. Here they are.
• The underside of your tables / carpets. We are so used to cleaning surfaces that we rarely think about the flip side of things. But there is an underside to everything and it should be taken care of just like the surface. While some people do remember about it when carpet cleaning, it is a much bigger issue with tables. We almost never pay attention to the underside of the table. While professional cleaners do that because in their experience it’s the most common place to find a piece of gum, at home it is only a place which accumulates dust and we completely ignore.
• Plugs and outlets. Ignored about half the time, outlets are places that should be taken care of otherwise you will be facing problems like sticky plugs. And let’s face it, nobody wants an electrical appliance t be turned on more than it should be. Heated plugs you can’t take out will literally melt the outlet, so make sure they are properly cleaned to avoid such issues.
• The inner wardrobe. Do you have any idea how much dust there is inside your wardrobe? Just like shelves, wardrobes accumulate dust, albeit at a slower rate. At a certain point, your clothes are basically surrounded by thick walls of dust mites which you eventually put on yourself. You want none of that, right? Also, all it takes to clean it is a moist rag or a microfiber towel, so it does not even require a lot of effort.
• Your cabinets / desks. Same as the wardrobe, the inside of your desks, drawers and cabinets eventually accumulate a layer of dust that makes the use of anything inside a bit on the unhygienic side. Put your duster, microfiber cloth and the home-made cleaner or cleaning solution to work to take care of that problem.
• Behind wardrobes / cabinets / appliances. When is the last time you cleaned the space behind your fridge or bookcase? Just as shelves and counters need dusting and scrubbing, so do walls and backsides of cabinets and other appliances. It doesn’t have to be a regular thing, but since this is a once per year house cleaning, you should put in a special effort and be as thorough as you can. Sometimes dust doesn’t just generally appear – it comes from air currents and it is spread out thanks to such unclean places.
Stick to this guideline and make the spring cleaning the most thorough one you have done. Leave no place untouched and no stone unturned in your pursuit of the spotless home. Alternatively, you can always call in cleaning services from your local professional cleaners, but why bother, when you can do a job just as proper as the one they do – all you need to remember is the key spots you usually forget. This is your reminder, now commence the house cleaning.
