Daily Habits to Keep Your House Clean and Tidy
Most people consider house cleaning a chore. In contrast to that, there are others who not only enjoy cleaning and do have fun with it, but they seem to have homes which never get dirty. Indeed, if you treat home cleaning as a chore it will always be that way. What if there was a way to clean your home with basically zero efforts? The good news is there is such a way. The bad news is it takes breaking your old habits. Your reward, however, will be a clean home that gets easier and easier to maintain. In addition to that, you will have more free time for your favourite hobbies and activities.
Let’s get down to work. Here is what you have to do to never clean your house.
1. Make your bed in the morning
After you wake up in the morning, take aside a few minutes to make your bed and make sure your bedroom looks decent before you leave for the day. Teach your kids to do the same before they leave for school.
2. Tidy before bedtime
Get into the habit of tidying your bedroom and living areas just before you go to bed. Ask your kids to help out. It takes a couple of minutes to put clean clothes in the closet, and dirty ones in the laundry basket; to pick up and put toys away, etc. Waking up in a neat home will inspire you to keep it clean throughout the day.
3. Clean surfaces after each use
Wipe off surfaces and fronts of all appliances every time you use them to avoid food stains or damage. Grease and stains will be tough to remove if left to build up. That’s why make sure to wipe up spills the moment they occur.
4. Wash kitchenware after each use
Don’t let dirty cutlery, utensils and dishes pile up. Instead of washing a mountain of dirty dishes at the end of the week, wash them straight away after you’re done eating.
5. Put your shoes and coats away
Make sure to put your shoes and coats away in their respective places as soon as you take them off when entering your home. Besides, if you leave your shoes at the front door, you won’t need to mop the floors as often.
6. Put things back where they belong
This one's pretty much a no-brainer, but if you make it a habit, you’ll never have to worry about your home being a mess again. Make sure to pick things up after you use them. If you’re busy at the moment, at least do your best to pick up everything before bedtime.
7. Dust and vacuum routinely
A few minutes of dusting, vacuuming, and mopping at least twice a week will save you from doing a deep house clean at the end of the week when is supposed to be your time for relaxation. Routine home cleaning will prevent the need for strong chemical cleaners and hard scrubbing.
8. Keep a minimalist interior
And last but not least, if you want a home that looks always clean and clutter-free then opt for minimalist home décor. Minimalism makes it much easier to keep your space clean. With fewer furniture and decorative items, there will be less stuff to move/put away/dust off when cleaning.
Certainly, having a perfectly styled bedroom with lots of throw pillows and blankets on the bed looks great, but it’s better to keep to the minimum. If you feel pressed with all the cleaning you've got to do, then follow the above tips to save precious minutes off your chores and enjoy more free time in your life.
