Tips and Tricks to Motivate Yourself to Have a Good House Clean
Dirty, messy house, tons of laundry, pile of dishes in the sink. How do you feel about that? Annoyed, perhaps depressed even? A clean, organized place, on the other hand, is a great mood-lifter. Not only will a clean house change your mood, it will also exert a positive effect on your mental and physical health. And yet, when it comes to cleaning some people don’t have the time, the energy, or don’t feel motivated.
So, how to gather motivation for cleaning? How to get going? Here are several tips and tricks to motivate yourself to have a good house clean.
• Make a plan and stick to it
If you set a cleaning schedule, you’ll have a better chance of getting your tasks done. Preparing weekly cleaning checklists set up by rooms will save you time and help you get the job done faster. Undoubtedly, setting up a house cleaning schedule is a major step towards a cleaner home, but you have to actually stick to it. So, be persistent and follow your plans.
• Prepare your tools
Before you get down to cleaning, have all of your cleaning products and cleaners sitting beside you. Make sure to equip yourself with a practical container that can hold all of your materials. Your home improvement store provides a variety of buckets, cleaning caddies or carts to choose from. Such a product will save you valuable time running back and forth across the house to fetch stuff.
• Ask for help
There is nothing wrong in asking a friend or neighbour to help you with your home cleaning. You’ll return the favour one day. Cleaning is much easier and fun when shared with someone else.
• Clean in the morning
Start the beginning of the day by doing the most daunting cleaning tasks first. Feeling fresh in the morning will help you carry them out more efficiently. Besides you’ll go through the rest of the day with a wonderful sense of satisfaction.
• Listen to music
When you lack the motivation and enthusiasm to start cleaning, simply crank up the volume. Something upbeat and fun to listen to while cleaning, will improve your mood naturally, and your reward will be a clean home.
• Exercise while cleaning
Knowing that you’re going to burn calories, will actually give you a boost. Here’s how you can get your workout and your cleaning done in a 1-hour session – start up your treadmill, and run for about 10 minutes. Then go cleaning for 10 more minutes. Jump back on the machine for another 10, then back to the chores …….you got it!
• Stay focused and avoid distractions
Logging in to your Facebook account to check for messages and updates might take you only 10 seconds, but when you do it repeatedly over and over again you lose focus. To stay focused on the task at hand, turn off your cell phone, tablet, laptop, etc. You deserve a clean home and this is your time to care for it.
• Invite guests over
Nothing is more motivating to get the house in perfect order, when you know that someone is coming over. You want a spotless house?! Then invite your in-laws over for dinner.
• Reward yourself
Setting a reward for a job well done can often inspire you and increase your desire to complete the process. Rewards will make you feel good and you’ll be inclined to work even harder. They will keep your motivation alive. So, next time when the cleaning tasks on your checklist are all done, give yourself a pat on the back – you truly deserve it!
