Dirty Habits That Can Harm Your Health

Which Habits are Harmful to Your Health?

dirty habits

People can be quite the filthy creatures, have you noticed that? Well, often times that is not because of what they do or because of how little time they spend home cleaning, but because of what they don’t know they are doing wrong. People often establish nasty habits that bring germs to their systems and harm their health in the long run. You need to be aware of those habits and learn to avoid them as much as you can. And now, prepare to be surprised, because you will find that a lot of these habits are things you do yourself:

#1 – Leaving Wet Towels Behind

Wiping your hands after washing them is normal, but after the tenth or twentieth time you do it, you will notice that the towel is kind of moist. And stinky. And it probably needs changing. The reason for that is that the moisture you create when wiping your hands often sticks onto the towel, aided by any remaining bacteria you didn’t manage to clean, but did wipe off. Change the towels regularly and never drop them on the bacteria-ridden floors, since carpet cleaning is not done that frequently.

#2 – Placing your Handbag on your Workplace

How many people touch your desk on a daily basis? Do you have clean hands all the time when touching the desk? Is office cleaning done often enough? All your answers are probably in the negative spectrum, which means that your desk is full of germs. And while it can be cleaned, you can’t say the same for the handbag or backpack you place on the desk while taking papers or work-related items out. Those germs stick to the bag and you literally carry them around with you.

#3 – Nail Biting

Your mother has probably told you a million times not to bite your nails. And no, not because they become misshapen and cling to every cloth or woollen surface you touch, although that is unnerving too. It is because you have a lot of bacteria under your fingernails that don’t always go away when you wash your hands or do home cleaning. And when you bite your nails, all that bacteria enter your mouth. And that is just disgusting, so don’t do it.

#4 – Taking the Phone to the Toilet

Admit it; you do sometimes take your phone along for the ride when you go to the toilet for an extended period of time. It’s just boring sitting on that bowl and waiting to be done, isn’t it? But taking the phone with you means eventually putting it down somewhere. And newsflash: the toilet is a very germ-ridden room. After that you take it and place it next to your ear! How does that sound?

Frequent domestic cleaning or office cleaning is not always enough to keep your health up. Simply keeping the home clean is an element, but not the whole agenda of healthy living. Free yourself of dirty habits and have a much healthier time at home and at the office.
