8 No-Sweat Tricks to Clean Your Patio

What is the Best Way to Do Your Patio Cleaning?
Patio cleaning can be a big pain sometimes, especially if you are the type that likes spending time there and keeping more patio furniture than usual. Also, the patio can get dirty from a variety of sources and you are a small drop in the sea when it comes to that. You could do anything from spilling crumbs and littering to throwing out rubbish, but nature can be much crueller to your patio. The wind can bring more litter than you ever can in the form of plastic bottles, newspaper pages, leaves, and ultimately even birds that leave behind feathers and excrements for you to deal with. So, with all this, is there an easy way to do your patio cleaning? Sure.
#1 – De-Clutter
Often times a patio is hard to clean because it simply contains too many things. The patio is meant to give you comfort outside the house, so leave only the essentials that give you comfort and get rid of the rest. Just like house cleaning in an emptier house is easier, so is cleaning a much less cluttered patio.
#2 – Sweep Often
You can get rid of 50% of the work if you simply do some sweeping for five minutes a day. Get the leaves and the dust out of the way and all it is left is to pick some of the bigger things that land here. And that is the easier job.
#3 – Deal with Weeds
If the patio is done with stones or tiles, there might just be a few blades of grass and leaves sticking out. You should take care of that since they take in a lot of the dirt on the patio and you have to then deal with both the weeds and the dirt. If you just take care of the weeds, then you just get small containers for dirt between the stones, which help you rather than double your work.
#4 – Use a Bleach and Water Solution
If you have a concrete patio, then an easy way to take care of it is to get a bucket and a mop, fill the bucket with water and add bleach. This solution is for hardcore cleaning and only if the patio is really, really dirty and requires strong home cleaners. For any other time you can just use standard soap. And whatever you do, don’t forget to rinse – even if outside and with a lot of ventilation, bleach is still toxic.
#5 – Use a Stiff Brush
Having the right tools makes patio cleaning that much easier. Get a stiff bristled brush and most of what is on the stones or tiles or decking, or whatever you have for the patio will come off after just a couple of strokes. Combining this with the solutions above makes patio and driveway cleaning even easier.
#6 – Hose It Down
Maybe the simplest of ways to deal with your patio if there is no emergency cleaning needed. Take out the rubber hose and spray all the dirt off the patio. This does, however, require of you to take all the furniture off the patio, otherwise you’d have to wait for everything to dry before using.
#7 – Use Wooden Furniture
Your patio’s furniture can be a pain to clean as well, especially if you want a special kind of patio with upholstered furniture. This is only making your own life harder, so do yourself a favour and get standard wooden furniture. No need for upholstery cleaning when you can just scrub dirt and stains off with a sponge or a brush.
#8 – Get the Cleaning Company Over
The easiest and most time-saving of all solutions, of course. Just call your local cleaners and have them deal with it. If you can afford it, sometimes, instead of thinking why bother, have someone else do the job.
With these “tricks” you will make cleaning the patio look like a walk in the park. It only takes some dedication and a wee bit effort. And then you can have the best-looking, or at least the cleanest, patio you could want.
