How to Effectively Clean The Most Common Stains
Each season comes with its own sets of stains as you are engaged in different activities. Summer, in particular, has a very different collection of stains to deal with when busy with the domestic cleaning. And since summertime is here and we are finally starting to engage in our favourite activities, here are some of the types of stains you will have to handle and the best approach to handling them. Better knowledge means easier time doing the home cleaning, so read up and be prepared for every contingency.
#1 – Ice Cream Stains
Naturally, during summer you will be engaged in a lot of ice cream absorbing. That also means a lot of dripping and then dealing with all the sticky drops. The best way to deal with ice cream is to soak the stain in cool water for a good 20-30 minutes in order to prevent the colourful flavour you were enjoying from spreading or sticking around. Then apply baking soda or dish detergent and scrub till it all goes away.
#2 – Grease Stains
Summer is an excellent time for barbecues and that means dealing with the aftermath of a lot of greasy meals – especially on the sofa. Upholstery cleaning becomes a bit more difficult when taking care of burger and hot dog stains. But it’s all easy to take care of with a bit of laundry detergent. Apply, wait a bit, then rinse. Repeat if the stain is still there and soon it will be history.
#3 – Ketchup / Mustard / BBQ Sauce Stains
Naturally, along with hot dogs and burgers come all the sauces and the stains they leave. Dealing with them is also simple. Use cold water to soak the spot and stop the spreading and discolouring. After 10-15 minutes, add baking soda paste (made of 1 part water, 2 parts soda) or dish detergent and scrub till the stain is gone. Sometimes it is that simple, yes.
#4 – Berry Stains
Fruits are quite colourful in the summer, and a lot of that colour will end up on your clothes, carpet or sofa. To do the clothes, sofa, or carpet cleaning, all you need is some water, white vinegar and a bit of detergent. Mix to make an all-purpose cleaner, then spray on the stain and wait a bit till the acidic properties do the work. After that scrub and voila! No stain.
#5 – Grass Stains
Kids will run wild during the summer. And you will know they did because of all the green grass stains on their clothes and on the upholstery and carpet. Sofa cleaning, however, is extremely simple – take liquid soap, add water and make a stain removal solution with the two. Apply on the grass stain and scrub it till it goes away.
#6 – Sweat Stains
And, of course, what is summer without any sweat, right? This will be among the dominating stains during the hot season. And the best way to take care of it is to apply ammonia or vinegar to immediately remove both the stain and the stench. You can also add an essential oil if you want to replace the latter with a fragrant smell. But never, ever apply bleach, because it is dangerous for the skin.
These are the stains you will have to deal with most often. Stain removal can be difficult, but that is only if you are unaware of all the different methods you could apply on different stains. Domestic cleaning is a simple task when you have the answers that make it easy. And with the solutions above you can either venture into doing it yourself, or just have a cleaning company come and take that burden away from you.
