How to Keep Your Home Impeccable All the Time
Have you ever wondered how on earth some people manage to keep their homes impeccable all the time and still have a life? We know that home cleaning can be quite a struggle and takes a whole lot of willpower and motivation to get through. For some people though, this is like second nature. You don’t necessarily need to obsess over your day-to-day household tasks, but you can learn a thing or two from all the clean freaks out there.
1. Know How to Prioritise
It’s great if you can clean your home top to bottom, but who has time for that? Instead take care of the most urgent things, such as washing the dirty dishes, removing the clutter from your living room and wiping the floors. Your place will instantly feel cleaner and more organised. You can manage the less important jobs over the weekend.
2. Take out the Trash
Don’t let the smelly food stink up your home. Spare five minutes every other morning to check the fridge for any leftovers or stuff you won’t eat. Put everything in a bag, tie it up and throw it away on your way to work.
3. Sanitise the Highly Used Items
Just because you are home, doesn’t mean you are safe from germs. Your cell phone, remote control, headphones and other small electronics are among the dirtiest things. Keep the germs and bacteria away from your home by sanitising these items regularly.
4. Use a Squeegee to Clean the Bathroom Walls
When it comes to house cleaning, the bathroom is one of the most tedious and time-consuming areas. If you don’t want to spend your Sunday scrubbing the grout and removing mould and mildew stains, then wipe the bathroom walls every time you take a shower. Run a squeegee across the area to get rid of the water and any soap residue. It is quick and it will spare you a lot of troubles later.
5. Apply the “Two Minute Rule”
Completing the entire house cleaning in one day may be overwhelming. Don’t wait until things pile up and tackle some tasks as you go. If the job takes less than two minutes tackle it, then do it right away. Try to clean as you go. For example, return items to their original place one you use them or clean the dishes after a meal. If you notice a dirty sink or a messy countertop, take a few moments to wipe and polish it right on the spot.
6. Vacuum the Busy Areas
Some parts your home get messy more quickly than others like the entry way and the living room. Clean these areas regularly to prevent the dirt from spreading around. Vacuum the area rugs, door mats and carpets at least once a week. Their fibres act as filters that trap the dust and allergens. Carpet cleaning is the best way to protect your health from the allergens. When you walk around these particles are released and spread throughout your home, polluting the air indoors.
Try these 6 tips and you will never stress over domestic cleaning again.
