How Do I Restore the Shine to My Ceramic Bathtubs and Sinks?
Dealing with the bathroom cleaning can be a big drag, but only if you do not know your options. And, as you know, there are life hacks for absolutely anything. When you are dealing with your bathroom’s tub and sinks, you may experience some difficulties with the set stains and the more stubborn ones that appear all too often, such as soap scum or water stains. Those are actually quite easy to deal with as long as you have the right solution. Read below and find out all you need about this aspect of house cleaning:
#1 – Baking Soda Solution
This product is one that you will see quite a lot in the house cleaning. Baking soda is an all-around product, which can help you with almost any stain. It is abrasive, so it helps with hard set stains, but should not be used on scratchable surfaces. But if you mix it with some water, you can make a soda paste, which is basically the best solution to cleaning all stains from ceramic sinks. If you add some kind of an essential oil as well, the baking soda solution becomes much more potent as you add both a fragrance and a disinfectant.
#2 – Cream of Tartar Solution
Why yes, this is a viable cleaning solution. As an old saying goes, when you have no house cleaners to rely on, look on your shelves. Well, not really, but that can also be helpful. Cream of tartar works fine as a cleaner for some surfaces, especially in combination with hydrogen peroxide. Combine the two (the latter drop by drop) until you make a paste and then use them on any ceramic surface. The results will be literally sparkling.
#3 – Salt Solution
Bathrooms tend to accumulate limescale. The best way to fight this is with the simple use of salt. Salt is very inexpensive and an excellent addition to the home cleaners’ family. Mix salt and turpentine, put on a pair of rubber gloves and scrub away. Naturally, a ventilation process is due after being done with that, so make sure you have one planned after the bathroom cleaning is done.
#4 – Shampoo Solution
Excellent for a quick clean if you clean daily or only want the bathtub to look and smell good while you are having guests over. The shampoo will bubble up and sweep up most of the scum or other bacteria and bring in a nice fragrance, depending on what kind of shampoo you chose for the job. But remember, this is not a solution that will last for more than a day or two – the bathroom needs more attention.
#5 – Vinegar Solution
We started with a universal home cleaner, and we end with one. Naturally, after baking soda comes the vinegar solution of cleaning. Vinegar is somewhat more potent, it being an acidic substance in nature, but it does work excellently on ceramics. As long as you keep it away from stone or materials that could get etched, vinegar will do an excellent cleaning and disinfecting job.
Keeping the bathroom and home clean is a duty of every home owner. If you want the sinks to be sparkly and the bathtub looking good, just apply any of the above solutions and you’ll soon have excellent results.
